Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University Tokat Manuscript and Traditional Handicrafts Application and Research Center is an Application and Research unit affiliated to the Rectorate, established within Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University with the decision of the Higher Education Council and the regulation published in the Official Gazette dated January 29, 2024 and numbered 3244.
Our center was established to carry out scientific, technical and artistic research, experimentation and development studies on new design issues by conducting research and applications in the direction of protecting and preserving traditional handicrafts produced in Tokat province, especially Tokat Yazmaciliği, and developing handicrafts with contemporary approaches.
In this context, one of the main objectives is to ensure the spread of traditional handicrafts specific to the province of Tokat throughout the country and to research, identify, evaluate and keep them alive on their history, social and economic contribution. Another important aim is to bring our center and our masters together by benefiting from the experience and knowledge of the masters who have learned the handicraft of Yazmacılık in Tokat with the master-apprentice relationship. In this sense, interviews, workshops and practical workshops are planned.
